Dear JPB,
It’s hard to believe that pretty soon it’s no longer going to be just the two of us. We’ve been in our own little world since 2010 and everything is about to change, drastically.
With that being said, I’ve never been more excited for anything in my life and you know I’m not a huge fan of change.
“We go together like peas and carrots.” – Forrest Gump
You stole my heart during our junior year of college, and you’ve been my world ever since. It feels like just yesterday we were sitting on the beach in Destin, making awkward small talk on SBX, before quickly falling in love. I realized on that beach trip there was something special about you, and that I needed you in my life.
Nine years later, here we are, waiting for our daughter to arrive at any moment. I’m so thankful for the life we’ve created together, and all of the memories we have shared. No, it hasn’t always been easy, but we’ve never given up on one another, which, in my opinion, has been a key factor to our successful relationship.
“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.” – Colin Powell
I love how determined of a person you are – you’ve been like that since day one. Even in college, when I would beg you to skip class to hang out with me, you always turned me down because you refused to miss a lecture. [#lame]
You are the hardest working person I know, and I couldn’t be more proud to be your wife. Sometimes I have a hard time accepting your crazy tax season work hours, mainly because I’m selfish and miss you, but I understand you’re busting your arse for our growing family.
It’s crazy typing that word out – family. We are about to become a family of three. We both already love this little girl so much, and we haven’t even met her yet. I can’t wait to watch that love grow throughout the rest of our lives. [FOR-EV-ER…FOR-EV-ER… Sandlot, anyone?]
I also can’t wait to watch you become a dad. You are going to be the BEST father. Sometimes you like to act tough, but we both know you have a tender heart and you’re actually a softy deep down. Just wait, you’ll be wrapped around her little finger the second you meet her. [I think you kinda already are.]
“When you’re a kid, you assume your parents are soulmates – my kids are gonna be right about that.” – Pam Beesly, The Office
You have always expressed confidence in us becoming parents and I’m so thankful to be doing life with a partner who believes in me/us so fiercely. Thank you for that.
As our lives become beautifully chaotic and completely consumed in caring for a tiny human, I want you to always remember how much I love you. Between sleepless nights, our careers, and everything in between, our marriage is about to be tested – but there is no doubt in my mind that we’ll gracefully tackle our new role as parents.
“You can’t win together if you don’t work together.” – Nick Saban
Thank you for all of the memories over the last nine years. Thank you for putting up with me. Thank you for growing with me. Thank you for loving me, believing in me, and always encouraging me to be the best version of myself.
Let’s simply enjoy whatever time we have left with it being just the two of us.
Love always,
KMB
